Re: John Butler Beebe of New York and Michigan
Hi Lynn,
Not sure what you have as far as census info but in 1900 John B., Margaret and children are in Saint Clair, MI
John is shown born 1847 NY and Margaret born 1851 Canada English
They are shown as married in 1866 and Margaret as immigrating 1866 so if those dates are correct, either they married in Canada and immediately went to US or she married in US right after arrival.
It would also mean that Margaret married when she was about 14 years old.
In 1880 the family is in Henderson, Jefferson, NY - eldest son Martin born about 1867 so marriage in 1866 seems right.
Interesting thing - son Martin is shown born Canada 1867 - next child Edgar age 6 born NY John age 4, born NY and Barney age 2 born NY
Margaret is shown aged 37 which would put birth at about 1843 instead of 1851 as in 1900 census.John is age 39 - listed as Butler
There is a Butler Beeby in Civil War pension records. He was in 35 NY Infantry
Maybe if you sent for his pension record packet it may have his marriage info there. I sent for the package for one of my ancestors and it has the info on his three marriages as well as all children born to him as well as deaths of first two wives so you might get lucky.
I did not find a marriage for them in Ontario records and births database starts to late to show Martin IF he was born Canada.
