Re: Eliza Reynolds married to Shippy in Michigan
Hello Laurie,
Wow! Your two messages are a huge help. I will keep tracking to see if I can find more. I am still trying to verify where the Native American Indian heritage came in. Our DNA shows we have Native American Indian ancestors. The information you located is the first we have seen on Eliza's birth. Perhaps the answer is further back and harder to find.
It appears from this that Eliza Reynolds Shippy was probably a biological child to Samuel C Shippy and Phoebe Elizabeth Miller. My grandfather, Arthur Casel Shippy, listed his mother's birth date as May 3, 1878. I believe Arthur Casel Shippy was baptized LDS. I did have that information prior to my fire loss. I have pictures of Phoebe Elizabeth Miller Reynolds and Eliza Reynolds. They do not look anything alike. They were taken at H.R. Harper Studio in Reed City, MIin 1901. There are two other pictures. One is Eliza and Aunt Phoebe and the other is a very young man, Charles Reynolds. This is why I keep questioning this link.
Do you know if LDS families may have recorded a birth of a child as if it were their child , if the child was a Native American Indian? I do not think that is the case, but I thought you may have found something to that effect in your research.
I cannot thank you enough for your assistance.
