Joseph Manery (married to Laura Rhodes) was my husband's great-grandfather. His grandma was their daughter Louise. According to the Van Buren County Return of Deaths, Joseph's father died of "dropsy" in 1896. He's buried in the Covert cemetery along with his wife, Agnes, and my husband's Great-Grandfather Joseph. Baby Lulu (infant daughter of Joseph and Laura)is also buried in the Covert cemetery, but in a different plot.
Laura Rhodes Manery lived until 1978. After 1910 she does not appear with Joseph in census records. She spent time in the Kalamazoo State Hospital and lived with her parents. She and Joseph lived apart but never divorced.
