Henry Markowski, died 20 Nov 1944

Our genealogy society (Huron Shores Genealogical Society, Oscoda, MI) has been asked to locate relatives of Henry Markowski by a fellow soldier who served with him in France and was with him when he died. He enlisted in the US Army, 137th Inf 35th Div from Detroit, MI. He was killed in France and is buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery. We have contacted numerous agencies to confirm his parents or anyone else related to him without success (congressman, ABMC.gov, Purple Heart, VA, veterans groups, etc.) The Army Freedom of Information program is the only group who may be of help, but it will be months in coming.
Any help locating his family will be greatly appreciated!
