Dear Kevin,

There is the free 1870 Michigan Census but it does not use the Soundex to search records.

Also the 1830 Michigan Territory Census which only lists head of household-in 1830, Livingston was part of other counties-think they were Oakland and Washtenaw:

If you live in Michigan, you should be able to access HeritageQuest Censuses online from home through your local library or the library of Michigan but they do not have the Soundex search capability either.

If you live out of state, have you checked with your library to see if they have either Ancestry.com Library Edition or Heritage Quest?
