I have a subscription to Ancestry, so whatever comes with that I have.

Just some advice, you really limit your search by only posting your info to people that have the michigan death index. The fact that someone answer your post, probly means there willing to help.
Genealogy takes creative thinking sometimes to get the info you need. You cannot assume all your answeres will come from the Michigan death index.

Alot of counties do not allow there info do be searchable.

Alot of the county genealogy websites, early death record information, is contributed from people doing research.

There are other ways to go about finding the info you need.
You mention he may be from the Lake city area,
the county in which Lake City resided actually has there cemeteries online and who is buried in them.

Or you could go by the Michigan Census, which would tell you which county he lived in.

I could do a quick search for you,
Christine
