I won't bore you with all the census info (unless you want it) but Essie did have a large family. Following are the names of her siblings, their birthplaces and their ages taken from the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses. 1910 Pikeville, Marion, AL, mother "Marry" E. 30 AL; Icey M. 5 AL, Willie 4 AL, Essie 2 AL, half sister Josie WILLIAMS 10 and half sister Rosie WILLIAMS 8. Three new children's names are listed in the 1920 census. Perhaps they were away from home on April 21st, 1910. 1920 Beat 3, Lee, MS, stepmother Allie T. 1882 AL; Etie 19 AL, Mattie 17 AL, Essie May 14 AL, Allie 11 AL, Annie Lee 7 AL, James W. 4 AL, Telsie (female) 2 MS. I have no clue where Beat 3 was but written on the census page is, what looks like, "Old Sattillo Road & Tupelo Road, 3 miles east of Weiss Road". 1930 Beat 4, Lee, MS, stepmother Allie 48 AL; Essie 24 AL, Annie 17 AL, James 15 AL, Telsie 11 MS, ?Vardaman? (male) 9 MS, Marie 3 MS. On this page is written "local road". In checking the names of all the males, I can't pinpoint any that were Essie's brothers. There are too many birthyear discrepancies and duplicate names to be sure. However, I am reasonably sure that your step-great grandmother, Essie's stepmother, died 15 Jul 1971 in Tupelo. Your great aunt, Essie's sister Icie, died Apr 1978 in Winfield, AL. Icie was born 11 Nov 1906 and she and Essie had the same mother, Mary. William married Mary BURROW on 17 Jan 1878 in Lamar Co. AL. You can confirm this by checking Essie's death cert and/or obit. I'd suggest you contact the libraries in Tupelo, MS and Winfield, AL and request obits for Allie and Icie. The email for the Winfield library is library@winfieldcity.org Notify Administrator about this message?
