Hi,
I tried to look up Patrick Donohue in the 1870 census, hoping to find his family. It looks like it could be a long process so I will send you the site and let you do it.

envoy.libofmich.lib.mi.us/1870_census I think that will get you to it. it is a very good site but difficult and it can take a very long time to download if you have dialup like I do. You must capitalize and spell exactly as the census says.

It has only head of household so I looked up Patrick. Since your spelling of Donohue didn't come up I used a wildcard for the last name. I got 11 different spellings for Patrick Donohue. I only checked one- a fellow in Bay City but he didn't have a family with him. He was 27 from Ireland.

I also tried to look up Day City in Michigan. no luck.
I do think that you might try Bay City, it's very close.

Good luck
