I am actually looking for information about his wife Sarah Smith Scheidel whom he married on October 9, 1875. LDS says he was about 51 and she was about 43. It also says he was born in PA. He was very active in the community: Clerk, Justice of the peace, superintendant of schools, owned a post office and a store,farmed in section 28. Wambold school was named after him.
I assume this was a second (or even third) marriage for him.
I do know that Sarah (Schmitt) Smith was born in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1833. She was orphaned at age 7 and raised by an aunt. Her first husband Jacob Scheidel was also from Waterloo. They moved to Remus Michigan in 1860. Jacob died in 1867. LDS also gives Sarah the name Bright as a middle name. I'm wondering if this is possibly her aunt's name or mother's maiden name? I doubt that they had children but am hoping the Wambold family may have more information about her. Is it possible that someone has a picture of her or the couple?
