I have found a cousin that has much of my Swanson family information back to the early 1700's. It appears that my ancestry spent much of its time (at least about 200 years) in Värö, Halland, Sweden. I believe that this family connection in the United States became cut about 60 to 70 years ago when the original folks from Sweden passed away.
My great grandfather, Charles G. Swanson or Carl Johan Svensson, born 21 May 1855 of Värö, Halland, Sweden to parents Sven Jönsson (1804 - 1875) and Johanna Nilsdotter (1812 - 1868) and was married to Anna Johanna Carlsdotter, born 06 Mar 1857 same place to Carl Johan Carlsson (1828 - 1884) and Britta Lena Andersdotter (1829 - ) was married 28 Dec 1877. Two children born in Sweden include Augustina Josefina Carlsdotter born 20 Feb 1878 and Johan Emil Carlsson (Swanson in US - my grandfather) born 29 Dec 1879 in Värö, Halland, Sweden.
It appears that this would be my great grandmother's death record with a couple errors:
Death:
Book 2, Page 48, Record # 69 City of Ludington (MI) - Annie Swanson - Feb. 9, 1890 - Female, White, Married - Age: 33 yrs, - mos., 27 days - Cause: La Gripp - Born: Sweden - Occupation: Housewife - Parents: Chas. Anderson, Dead & Bertha Anderson of Ludington, MI
Actually, I think that the age should have been listed as 27 days short of reaching 33 years based on the birth date above. Her parents in Sweden were Carl Johan Carlsson and Britta Lena Andersdotter.
Info from the 1900 census, Ludington, Michigan - 105 Madison St,
Osen, Anton Apr 1862 38 m 10 Swed - Swed – Swed Christine May - 1855 45 m 10 7 4 Swed - Swed - Swed
Swanson, Anna niece Jan 1890 10 " " "

Carlson, Bertha Feb 1829 71 m 46 9 4 Swed-Swed – Swed Mother-in-law (I believe Bertha was the American name for Britta Lena)
** The Anna Swanson above is the daughter of Carl Johan Svensson (Swanson) and Anna Johanna Carlsdotter. Anna Johanna was dead and Anna was raised by 'relatives'. It appears to be Anna Swanson's mother's sister, Christina, that raised her.

Carlson family also lived in this house.
From the Census Records it appears that my grandfather and his first wife, Zola lived next door to the Osen family who raised the woman that my father calls Aunt Anna (Johan's sister born in Ludington in Jan 1890 - their mother apparently died from the complications of child birth on 9 Feb 1890).
Birth records for Verner (Vernon) Swanson
bk3pg148#18 4-28-1900 Verner Swanson (my father's half-brother) born in Ludington to John (my grandfather) and Zola Swanson.
Zola's death record:
bk2pg157#169 in Ludington - Zola Swanson, married white female of cancer of the stomach, age 21-8-4 - Parents - Henry Conklin and Alice Scott
Does anyone know of the Osens or Carlsons or descendants of those listed? Does anyone know Britta Lena's (Bertha's) Andersdotter (Anderson in this country) death date or record? Any descendants of Verner Swanson?
We have found records of a few possibilities for the children of Charles Swanson and Anna Carlsdotter and would like to confirm. Also, was Augustina Josefina Carlsdotter (most likely Swanson in this country) ever in this country?
Thank you!
