I have recently located this newspaper article from the Grand Rapids Press, 3/28/1901:
Life Ended by Suicide
J. W. Allor, A Macomb County Farmer, Hanged Himself in Detroit
Detroit, March 28- After spending his three score years peacefully on a farm J. W. Allor of Chesterfield, Macomb county, ended his life as a suicide in the city. His dead body was found suspended by a rope from the gas chandelier in his room at the City hotel.
Allor had been in the city since Monday night. He had lived near Chesterfield for many years and was one of the most respected residents of Macomb county. It is thought that he was insane.
Can anyone verify is this person was John Wesley Allor, widower of Almira Allor, both of whom are buried in the Chesterfield Union Cemetery?
I would also like to see any local (Macomb Co.) obituary or articles concerning this man and his survivors. Thanks.
