Here is the information as it was given to my cousin by Teresa Callaghan who was my second cousin. She died 2 years ago at age 99.
Ellen O'Neal (1786-1874) was born in Thounadrummon, County Cork, Ireland. She married Humphrey Murphy and they had five sons. They kept a dairy. Humphrey died and Ellen married John O'Connell (1800-1878). (I have a copy of his will. He couldn't read or write but he had no problem counting, especially when it came U.S. dollars.)They had three daughters - Mary, my great grandmother, Julia, and Hanorah. They came to America with their five Murphy sons and three O'Connell daughters. They had a grocery store in Corktown, Detroit, where Holy Trinity Church is located. Corktown was named for the O'Connells as they came from County Cork. ( They must have moved to Tyrone Township, Livingston County, Michigan in the early 1840's as they bought 80 acres for $250.00 from the government and sold it in 1850 for $500.00 to their daughter Mary and her new husband John O'Callaghan ( my great grandparents ). Who are John and Martha who you refered to?
Hope this helps. I have more of this information which I could mail to you if you want to E-mail me your address.
Good Luck, John
