Seek Death record for John DeGeer in MI 1871-1890

John DeGeer b. c1801 in Ontario, Canada settled in Michigan c1855, married Catherine Kellogg Dec. 1855 in Lexington, Sanilac County, Michigan. The couple was reported in the 1860 and 1870 census returns for Lexington, Sanilac County, Michigan.

Catherine died in 1885 at age 80 and is buried in lot 38D in Hodge's Cemetary (a.k.a. Hart Cemetary) in Hartland Twp., Livingston County, MI. Headstone reads, Catherine, wife of John DeGeer but there is no record of John being interred in this facility. Can anyone with access to Michigan records shed some light on when/where John passed away or the wherabouts of his remains. He is NOT LISTED IN MI GENDIX.

Several researchers and I are interested in specific info in his death record leading to the identity of John's mother and father. Any help will be sincerely appreciated.
