Miles Georgia emigrated from Tioga or Tompkins County in New York State to Rollin, Michigan in 1843. He came with his second wife, the widow Lette (Lettie) Landon/Landen and three of her six children). This information is published in the Georgia genealogy by Elmore Brooks and he cites his source as family correspondence between Miles and one of his grandchildren. I have never seen the correspondence.
I find Miles and his wife Lette in the 1850 census for Rollin, Lenawee County, Michigan.
Immediately next door is John Landon, 38, born New York. John's wife is Lucretia and they have children, Silas, Weltha, Cornelia and Lewis. Four doors from John is Samuel Langdon, 37 born New York and immediately next door to him is BINGHAM LANDON age 30 born New York.
A history of Lenawee states that John's mother was Nancy Beadle. It appears to me that these three men are closely related to Lette. Can anyone help me identify these Landon people? The census is clear that her name is Lette.
Thank you for any help.
