My ancestor, John Eggleston Walden, obtained two patents from the US General Land Office in 1835. His brother, George Harlow Walden, also was granted a patent. The land is located in Lapeer County. The brothers were originally from upstate New York. John's land is described as being in Township 6. According to information that may be incorrect, John died shortly afterward, and his widow, Lydia Sleeper Walden, later may have remarried. Many (possibly not all) of his seven children later moved to California. Their names were Jerome, Frederick, Russell, Mercy, George, Helen and John Wallace Walden. I am looking for any information at all about John, his brother, George, or any of their children. I also would like to know the date and cause of John's death. I would be grateful to anyone who could give me the information or suggest where to look. Crane Walden Notify Administrator about this message?
