I stopped by the Library on my way home from work last night as they offer access to ancestry.com for free. I found only one Thysse family in Kalamazoo in 1930. They name is spelled differntly but remember these census takers were going by sound and often language barriers presented problems.

Marvin Thyase 10
Dorothy M. Thyase 8
Betty J. Thyase 5

I believe this "Marvin" is the Martin Thysse you are looking for.
