Augusta 1945

World War II ended in 1945 and some of us Augusta 10 year old kids rushed over to the Methodist Church and started ringing the church bell in celibration. We knew that our Dad's would be coming home from the war. We had recently learned in school about the Liberty Bell and the Revolutionary War. We rang the bell for a couple of hours, until some man came in the church and told us to stop before we broke the bell. The culpirts in this incident were Raymond and Laymond Summers, Bud Garrett, Johnny Mathiney and Jimmy Joe Ringo. We didn't brake the bell, like they did to the Liberty Bell, but we were working on it.
