This truly amazing! I came upon this forum by accident on my way to looking up another family. Life is certainly strange. Leo Flannigan is from my family. Actually, I've only just started on this branch but I can tell you what I know.
John Flannigan was married to my grandmother's sister Mary Lorio, born 1868 in Kalamazoo, daughter of Leander Lorio(Loriot), born Montreal, Canada and Mary Cavanaugh, born in Ireland, daughter of Patrick and Mary Cavanaugh. John Flannigan was Business Manager of the old Kalamazoo Telegraph (at the turn of the century it was the rival of the Kalamazoo Gazette and no longer exists.) They built a house at the corner of Kalamazoo Avenue and Douglas Avenue here in Kalamazoo. Mary Cavanaugh Flannigan died May 6th, 1900 and John Flannigan was married again to Sarah Gordon. He is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery here with Mary on one side and Sarah on the other.
I must tell you that at this point, I'm not sure if Leo was the son of Mary or Sarah. But here is another strange fact:the father of my husband was best friends with Leo Flannigan and I have an old picture of Leo, taken I think, around the time of World War 1. I know Leo moved to Detroit and that he married a Louise, but that's all I know so far. My husband's father has been gone for many years now, so sadly, I can't ask him any questions. How I wish I had when I had the chance!
