You may be talking about what I called the Isabella County Farm. Our Girl Scout troop visited there during the Christmas seasoon and maybe other times during the late 40s. I lived in Shepherd and it was a big brick building in the country, probably not very far from Shepherd. Most residents were old people with no place to go, but I remember some were younger with obvious mental problems.
