This may be a pandora's box, but it has been a mystery for sometime in our family. Henry Demin Arnold was the son of Olive Augusta Arnold b. 26 July 1846 in Ionia. Olive Augusta was the daughter of Dexter Arnold b. 1795 in Smithfield, RI and Permelia Moon b. 1811 in Herkimer, NY.
Now here is where Pandora's box comes into play. On Henry's death certificate it states his father as unknown and it is rumored in the family that his father was a married man. I am assumming that Olive Augusta, her mother Permelia, and her brother Bowen were all shipped off to Nebraska after Henry was born as Dexter remained in MI, according to census living with his son.
If anyone has a family story or some sort of resource as to who the real father was please contact me, hopefully with the real father's name. This would help to complete Henry's family tree.
