Your question is the basis of all my research. I have no idea who Nancy Ella's parents were. What I do have is a marriage license from Clare County issued in December 1873 to Elon Boyce and Nancy Ella Smith. Nancy's parents were not listed as witnesses. The witnesses were William Hoag and Alice M. Smith. Nancy stated that she had been born in Ionia County (doubtful)in 1857 (dubious). In 1873 her residence was Lenewee County. The handwriting on the license is a very crude cursive as if a child had filled out the license.
