James Taylor in Rives and Leslie - 1850's on

I have been researching my g-g-grandfather James taylor for some years now. I have much information from census data about his family. However, I am having a very difficult time going back east from Jackson. His father, also James, died in Rives in 1859 and is buried in Woodlawn in Leslie with his wife Asenath. I suspect that the only way I am going to be able to go further is with family input.
If you have any information about the pre-1860 history (Ohio/NY)of this family or know of any living relatives who do please reply.
Thanks - naturally I am glad to share what I have with anyone surnames include Fellows/Clark/Norton/Bartholf/True/Post/Wilber/VanCamp)
