(Marion) 76 year old George R. Ruth of Marion died in his home on July 4, 2009. Mr. Ruth was born on October 7, 1932 in Port Austin, Michigan to the late Joseph L. and Loretta Marie (Fehner) Ruth.
George R. Ruth married Donna A. Mousseau on May 31, 1952. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2008. Mr. Ruth and his late wife came to Marion in 1963 and together they had five children. George R. Ruth worked as a machinist for Anaconda Wire,
General Motors and after his retirement he worked for Kirby Risk. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Ruth enjoyed working outside and lending a helping hand at the Whistle Stop Farm.
George R. Ruth is survived by his children: Dennis R. (Debbie) Ruth, Marion; Lynette M. (Rob) Hocking, Hull, England; and Edward N. (Donna) Ruth, Lewisbury, Pennsylvania; Daughter-in-Law- Leah Butler, Yorktown, Indiana; four siblings: Joseph (Doris) and Michael (Mary) Ruth, Marie Wilson, and Theresa (Joe) Mousseau, all of Michigan. Mr. Ruth is also survived by his ten grandchildren: Christopher (Heidi) Ruth, David L. (Sandy) Chapin, Onnalee J. Ruth, Matthew E. Ruth, Kyle J. Ruth, Elizabeth D. (Ryan) Buck, Kimberly R. Hocking, Emma C. Ruth, Margaret M. Ruth, and Brendan Butler. Four great grandchildren and two great-grandchildren on the way also survive.
Mr. Ruth was preceded in death by his wife Donna, two children Catherine Ann Chapin and Paul William Ruth and one sister Margaret Kruger.
Visitation for George R. Ruth will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday July 10, 2009 at the Owen-Weilert-Duncan, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana with a Rosary service held at 7p.m.
A funeral mass for George R. Ruth will be said at 10am, Saturday, July 11, 2009 in St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Weisenberger officiating.
Burial with graveside military honors will be held on Monday, July 13th in Marion National Cemetery.
