Alicia- I know this is my Jacob, the dates are dead on. The only thing I don't understand is the grandson part, considering the head of house is 31! I looked the census up on Heritagequestonline.com and found it- I was rather tickled to see it, though it opens up another discussion as to who these Joki's are. If you look in the New Castle, PA censuses, there is an Elias Joki, wife Hilda, and he is the pivot person for the family. Jacob went through Ellis Island, and this record states that Jacob was going to Elias, destination. I have emailed a cousin of mine, to see if she knows who these Joki's are, as I have limited information, and Alex and Fia were not in the pictures that we have of them, or the genealogy book we have. I know this Joki is shortened from Poikkijoki, and they all were from Storpellinen, Alajarvi, from the Crown land-farm land area. Price County Wisconsin is not off the beaten track for this family, in fact, they had settled a town called Clifford in Price County for sometime, before Clifford dissolved- it sat on the county line, and I'm guessing when they made the divisions, it wasn't worth keeping the town? Most of it was farmland... I do have a land record, but I'll have to investigate it a little further to see if there are connections. I also looked at the pages before this one (on the census), I assume there weren't any pages afterwards, since this was a half page, according to Heritage. None of the names looked familiar, unfortunately. I'm really curious now as to where this marriage record is. Surely it's in Houghton, MI. Because my Great Grandmother, Elviira worked for the Suomi College, now Finlandia College, and Jacob was constantly on the move around the USA. My Great Uncle swears that the date is 1910, and if I look at my notes, it seems to be right on target, especially when they met, when she immigrated to the states, and when my Great Uncle was born (he was the first). So, I can't imagine that it would be here, unless Jacob ran her home really quick! LOL I sincerely appreciate your looking, and reporting this to me- it's not in vain whatsoever, as we need to start expanding on the Elias Joki "story" as well. Thank you!
