Hi again, The draft cards were just for registration. They didn't mean that you were actually joining up. Neither of my grandfathers was naturalized yet, but they both were registered. Ancestry has some problems with transcriptions and it can be expensive, but I haven't had any major problems with it and there sure is a ton of information there. Maybe you could try a one month voucher or subscription--whatever they call it. Elvira took a ship to Quebec, then most likely a train to Sault St. Marie where she crossed into the USA.
