I am trying to trace my ancestors. My Grandma, Margaret Helmi Seppanen, grew up in Atlantic Mine, but was born in Finland 21 June 1896. Her parents were called Henry (born around 1862 in Finland) and Bertha Seppanen (born around 1860 in Finland) but that was an Americanization of Finnish names that sounded like Haaki and Riutta from the way my grandma pronounced them. My grandma had a sister Phobe Seppanen (married Keranen, and died in a nursing home in Ontanagon), and a sister Annie (who married Billie Maki and stayed in the area) and the family unofficially adopted Hilma Anund and Martha Kartinen. I'd really like to work backward and find my ancestors! I did this on the Danish side and got back to the 1500's (with a lot of help from the Danes). Thanks! Carol
