Hello Gratiot County friends...

I hope you enjoy this approach to sharing genealogy, something I hope to be expanding on soon. Here is the link I've wanted to provide to the Sheldon Family Association... 6161x2 Sylphina M. Sheldon m. Bradley B. Woodmansee.

Photography is one of my hobbies, and at you will find my galleries, mostly travel and genealogy related, at:

http://www.pbase.com/azsheldon

Furthering my quest into the genealogy of Bradley B. Woodmansee (m. Sylphina M. Sheldon), a trip across the USA to Ohio and Michigan (August 2006) helped answer some questions.

My son Jack iii (age 8 then) and I traveled to Connectecut for the SFA reunion, and after meeting a bunch of cousins, and traveling about the Sheldon sites in Litchfield, Jack and I drove on to Ohio and Michigan...

At my photo gallery you can find "Our Woodmansee Family Connection" and view images of a family Bible located along the way. The actual location of the Bible is kept private out of respect for its owner. Some of the pages are not displayed because some people are still living. I apologize for this in advance.

Even so, visible is some very important information, that is, Bradley B. Woodmansee's connection to our Sheldon heritage.

From Ohio, we traveled to Michigan and one day my 8 year-old son and I searched for the headstone of their son, Benjamin T. Woodmansee. (1838 - 1893). By chance an Ohio newspaper article pointed the way to Gratiot County, where members of the Woodmansee family were called to visit their son and brother, on his deathbed. At home in Arizona, I happened to have a copy of the cemetery transcription where (all along) was B. T. Woodmansee.

Visiting North Star Cemetery in Gratiot County, Michigan, we found the location of his small marker. From there we drove to the county courthouse in Ithica, Michigan, and found the death record verifying this is in fact the son of Bradley B. Woodmansee.

Bradley B. and Sylphina M. (Sheldon) Woodmansee had three children, Benjamin, Polly, and David. With the exception of Bradley and Sylphina's place of burial, I have located all headstones for these individuals.

I will post more information and photography as time allows, and will notify interested parties here.
