According to Beth Doan's posting on the Doan GenForum, "Jonathan Doan was born March 26 1849 in Norfolk Co., Ontario, Canada. He married Ester Elizabeth Kaake October 22, 1871 in Norfolk Ontaior Canada. By 1872 Jonathan and Sarah were on there way to Sanilac, Michigan."

They found their way to Beaverton, Gladwin Co., MI where Jonathan died May 15, 1906 and Ester in 1914. They were the parents of Joseph Doan - the man who may have fathered the largest number of children in Gladwin County history - 28 all together between his two wives.

While working on the history of Gladwin County (in anticipation of the county's First Settler Sesquicentennial) I am looking for a well-documented story of this family. Even if it turns out it is not the largest family in county history, it will still be an interesting story to include in the book.
