Here's what I found:
James Craven Jr age 22, married Margarett Granger age 16 on Mar 1, 1856 in Genesee County, Mi. County marriage record.

James Craven is buried in Mt Morris Cemetery, in Mt Morris, Mi. He d Jun 23, 2884 age 51y, 2m, 11 days
Margaret Craven is also there d. Mar 8, 1917, age 76y, 5m, 20d.

also buried there are
Lucy A Craven d. Aug 30, 1869 age 6y, 11m, 20d.
Libbie d. May 12, 1875

As to checking on his parents, I was told that obituaries that early didn't tell the parents names (so I didn't check). Also that marriage records of that time didn't give parents names either. There was no death record so that doesn't help.

The library worker that I consulted looked up ship passenger records and found the following. There is no guarantee though that this is your fellow.

on Oct 1852 on the ship Tam O Shanter, sailing from Liverpool to Boston was James Craven born about 1833. The ships list assumed everyone on board was Irish. (it doesn't look like they even asked)

We also checked the 1841 English census and found that none of the 4 James Cravens born between 1833-1835 had parents named James.

Sound like you might need to go to English records.
Good Luck Pat
