Mrs. Wm. Updegraff of Atlas, died on Tuesday while visiting her daughter, Mrs. Libbie Horton, in Richfield.Deceased was about sixty-five years of age and had been twice married.She was the mother of Arthur Gordon, of this city, and of Mrs. Geo. Titsworth, of Atlas.The funeral was held Thursday in Richfield.(Oct 22, 1901)
Mrs. Betsy Larabee Pioneer of Atlas died yesterday morning at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Elmer Garner,904 Liberty St (Flint) Deceased was born in PA in 1821.Her parents moved to the state of NY when she was eight years old.she was united in marriage to George Updegraff in 1838, removing to this state four years later with her husband.They were among the early pioneers, building themslves a home in the forest in the township of Atlas, where she had since resided until the last three yrs. To them two children wre born, Wm and Abram Updegraff, both of whom survive her.
In 1856 her husband died and in 1867 she was married to Samuel Larabee, eing left a widow 15 yrs later.Hers was a live of sacrifice and devotion to others.Besides rearing her family she was a loving mother to Mr. Larabee's hildren,also the the children of her son, when he was twice bereft of a wife, all of whom mourn her as their own mother
funeral service will be held at the Baptist ch. at Atlas, (April 3, 1906)
