What a great story. I have a James Matthew (or Madison) Jones in my family that moved from VA to Berrien Co and then to Cass Co (listed there in 1900 census). His spouse was Clarinda Marrs, and one of their children was Frederick George Jones, b. 1870, my gt grandfather. Do any of these names appear in your family history?
