Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am a Holcomb, born in Niles. Munsey, Hazel's brother was my Dad. Preston, my grandfather. I was born late in life (1948), so I never really got to know the Holcomb family like Daundra and the other cousins did.
Since Daundra, Don Holcomb's daughter done the Holcomb tree and did some work on the Hayden tree, she has helped me with so much information. My mother, Louella, was a Smith. she grew up in Calvin Center and I decided to even out the family tree, I would gather as much as I could on her family. I was the only one that could do that. Daundra had quit a bit, and I have spend hours in the Cass Historical Library as well as the courthouse and Ancestry.com. I have been able to get quite a picture of her family too.
By Hazel marrying J Paul Hayden, that related me on my paternal side, but I was to find out that I had ties to the Hayden family on my maternal side as well. Hannah Lincoln married Joseph G Hayden in 1846. They were parents to William B, and James G, as well as other children. Joseph died at age 36 in 1856. No death records at that time so no way to tell how he passed or his parents names.
Hannah remarried to Hiram Smith. They became parents to my maternal grandfather Fred Smith and a couple other boys. Listing kids here would give you eyestrain...lol
I have been trying to find out who Joseph's parents were. I researched Noah and I can't seem to tie Joseph G to him. In George's obit they did mention a lot of names. I researched as far as I could on those names. Love the mysteries, but the deadends are frustrating..lol
Here is what I have on Hazel. You may already have some of this. Hazel L. Holcomb Hayden B. Feb. 7, 1907 in Grayson Co, VA. D. May 29, 1996 in Berrien Co, MI. Buried in Prospect Hill, Cassopolis. Married J Paul Hayden Feb. 11, 1926 in Cass Co, MI. I have their kids in my tree as well.
Now I am curious where you fit into the Hayden family tree. Your parents and grandparents. Thanks Again for your reply. Love hearing from cousins. Are you Joseph or phil?? :) Or Joseph Philip?
