I have recently been studying the Loupee families of Cass Co MI who moved to IA (Hancock Co, Tama Co, and Jasper Co )in the 1850-1870s. I am interested in George Loupee b Germany who m 1) Julia Philo. I think that George might be a brother of Lewis/Louis Loupee who m Phoebe Brown. George's parents were Geroge Loupee and Minnie Steiner who came from Germany abt 1828 and lived in Lancaster PA>Wayne Co, OH> and Cass Co MI according to a bio of George.
Julia Philo was the daughter of Lewis LM Philo and Betsey E Haskins. Her mother d in 1845 and is buried in Doan Cemetery, Mendon, St Joseph Co, MI. It appears to me that both parents had died bef 1850 since Julia Philo, age 12, is living with another family on the 1850 census in Cass Co MI. Her sister, Lavina, m Anson Avery in 1847 in Cass Co MI and they went to Hancock Co IA in 1854.
I am a Haskins family researcher and Julia's mother, Betsey E Haskins b 1805 Canada was the daughter of Nicholas Haskins and wife 2) Susannah Smith. I have lots of information on the Haskins and Smith side, but just recently began to study the George Loupee and Julia Philo family. Please contact me if this is of interest.
