Thank you, Mary, for your response. I, too, have that list of Griswold and Rhoda's children, from the same source. Having failed to find any other indication of their having a daughter Harriet, I would like to try placing my ancestor Harriet in that family, or ruling her out of it, with a mitochondrial DNA test. Any living descendant of John's wife Rhoda (a descent entirely though the female line) would be a candidate for the test, and if you know any one of them who might be interested, I'd love to hear from him or her.

My interest in the Whaleys is limited to John, as the husband of Rhoda, and their descendants.
