Thank you so much for this info! You have nudged me to go back and do some homework (I have been tracing my family for 30 years - I'm hooked!), but had gotten sloppy at citing sources and looking beyond the box, so to speak.
The Mrs. Charles THOMPSON (informant re Elbert's death) is actually his mother, who is my maternal Great Grandmother-Mary Virginia DANIEL McPEAK GIBBOM THOMPSON RATHBUN.
In 1900 Elbert is 19y, single, living with his mother, Mary McPEAK in Coldwater, Branch Co, MI. In 1910 Elbert is married to Mabel and is a house painter in Osceola, Polk Co., Nebraska (his place of birth). The couple had been married for 8 years. So, it appears Elbert McPEAK & Mable nee______could have married in MI or in NE...another piece for me to search for. Elbert, age 29y at death, and Mabel, age 28y at death, both died due to tuberculosis, per family info. They apparently had no children.
