John Hulse Obituary

I gleaned this from the Fremont, IN public library (through my mother). If this helps anyone, please contact me.

John, son of John and Charity Hulse, was born January 4, 1842 in Cayuga county, New York. He was one of a family of six children, two sons and four daughters, all of whom had outstripped him in the race of life. When but a boy of 13 summers, he, with the family, removed to Branch county, Michigan, locating on the farm where he died.

On June 18, 1889 he was united in marriage to Miss Lavina E. Albright. To this union two children were born. Delilah C., now Mrs. Ray Brown, of Steuben county, Indiana; and Ralph J., who lived with his father, and is deserving of much praise for his faithfulness in caring for his father in these last years of his earthly pilgrimage. Besides the two children, he is survived by three grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Nearly fifty years ago, he united with the United Brethern church and in his quiet, unassuming way lived for his Master and for others. For a number of years, he served the local church as its Sunday School superintendent and trustee, and when the end came it found him ready. On September 29, 1920, at 2:20 pm, he closed his eyes to the things of earthly this life to open them to the things of life eternal. The voyage of his earthly pilgrimage was measured by 78 years, 8 months and 25 days .

A loving and beloved father, a kind and obliging neighbor and a good citizen from us is gone.
