The 1830 census of Pennsylvania includes Artaxerxes Brant. He was living in Harbor Creek in Erie County. His name is spelled in the census index as Arthaxaraxe Bryant. Lacey Brant, Artaxerxes’s brother, married Angeline Brown in North East, Erie County, Pennsylvania on 29 November of 1830.

State of Michigan, County of Berrien, ss.
On this 24th day of Sept. A.D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety one personally appeared before me, a Notary Public within and for the County of Wayne and State aforesaid, Angeline Brant age 75 years, a resident of the town of Royalton County of Berrien, State of Mich, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that she is the widow of Lacey Brant who enlisted under the name of Lacey Brant at Benton Harbor Mich on the … day of Sept A.D. 1861, in Co. “L” 3rd Regt Mich Cavy and served at least ninety days in the late war of the Rebellion, who was Honorably Discharged 1863, and died Sept 11th 1891.
That she was married under the name of Angeline Brown, to said Lacey Brant, on the 29th day of November 1830, by Elder Olford, at North East Pa. there being no legal barrier to such marriage-neither she nor the soldier had been previously married. That she has not remarried since the death of the said Lacy Brant. That she is without means of support than her daily labor. That names and dates of birth of all the children now living under sixteen years of age of the soldier (or sailor) are as follows: None That a prior application for pension has been filed Soldier was a pensioner by Cert # 473.631. That she makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under provisions of the Act of June 27, 1890. She hereby appoints, with power of substitution, Milo B. Stevens & Co. of Detroit Mich, their successors or legal representatives, her true and lawful attorneys to prosecute he claim, and agrees to allow them a fee of Ten Dollars. That her postoffice address is Royalton, County of Berrien, State of Michigan

Sprague, residing at Royalton Mich persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, say they were present and saw Angeline Brant claimant, sign her name (or make her mark) to the foregoing declaration; that they have every reason to believe from the appearance of said claimant and an acquaintance with her of thirty years and two years, respectively, that she is the identical person she represents herself to be; and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim.
