Elizabeth Hays, death abt 1853

Elizabeth Hays (nee Martin) was last recorded as being in Berrien County where she and her husband, Samuel Hays, sold property they had in Ohio. There is some reason to believe Samuel purchased property in Berrien County also in 1853. Samuel is next heard from in the 1860 census of Lawrence County, Illinois. We are trying to determine if Elizabeth died in Berrien County Her death in Berrien County might have caused Samuel and family to relocate to Illinois. Is there some record of deaths/burials in Berrien County during the period 1853-1860? Any help is appreciated.
