I am researching the Harner families of Berrien County. John Harner arrived as early as 1834 and settled in what is now Lake Township. Micheal Harner arrived about 1841 and settled down the road from John but in what is now Oronoko Township. Jacob Harner also owned land in Berrien County in 1839 and later moved to Missouri. John Harner married Susanna Haney in Pennsylvania. Michael Harner married Sophia Plank also in Pennsylvania. Jacob Harner married Lucy Rushaberger in Oronoko Township in 1841. These families are of German extraction and came to this area along with several others from Union, Snyder and Northumblerand Counties in Pennsylvania. In PA this name is spelled Herner and Hoerner as well. I am interested in exchanging information with anyone rsearching this same line.
