I don't know if this will help you or not but it doesn't hurt to check it out. My Thomas & Mary Mercer True line starts in Spotsylvania co Virginia. They had five children born to them while they lived there. The fouth child, Elizabeth b bet 1808-1810 married a WHIPPLE CARPENTER. Where & when I don't know. The family moved to Bourbon, Clark co. Ky where Thomas H.(my ggg grampa) was born in 1813. Their next & last child recorded, David was born in Darke co. Ohio in 1817. In a book, "History of cass co. Mich" published 1882. it mentions that Elizabeth's brother David came to Pokagon Twp. Cass co. Mich from Ohio by wagon train and stayed with them. Then it says that ELIZABETH & WHIPPLE CARPENTER moved to Missouri around 1840. She is thought to have died before 1850 in Missouri. Cass co. is right next to Berrien co. They might be a connect. I have to go to Cassopolis records some day to try and gather information on the Trues and Hofmeisters. I will be checking on Elizabeth while Iam there and will let you know what else I find there.
