Informations about Daniel & Patrick Gorman

1- Daniel Gorman was born in Ste-Marthe, Quebec, Canada on May 4th, 1848 and his brother Patrick was born in Ste-Marthe, Quebec, Canada on January 31st, 1850. The parents are Thomas Gorman (born in Ireland abt 1806 and died in Ste-Marthe, Quebec, Canada on November, 3rd, 1861) and Catherine Maloney (born in Ireland abt 1811 and died in Ste-Marthe, Quebec, Canada on August, 22nd, 1885).

2- The two Irish Gorman brothers came from Ste-Marthe, Quebec, Canada to work as lumberjacks in the Saginaw Valley around 1875. On the 16th of March 1880, they both filled, in Saginaw, a declaration of intention to become US residents.

3- In the book “THE SHANTY BOY OR LIFE IN A LUMBER CAMP” BY JOHN W. FITZMAURICE, 1889, Page 234, I found the following text :

“I remember on January 19th, 1887, a tramp I had from Big Creek, on the head waters of the Au Sable river , across the plains, to the Camp of Campbell & Gorman, of Bay City…. By the way, that camp was composed entirely of Frenchmen.”

Is it related to Daniel & Patrick ? I don’t know.

Any info is welcome

Regards

Sylvain
