Several years ago I did a bunch of lookups on the Hartley family for this man. You might want to contact him at johnhartley@clear.net.nz and share info. I believe he was connected through your grandfather's brother. Otherwise if you can't get any info from him I would be glad to retrace my steps. I believe that there were a number of obits, etc. There are still Hartleys in the area--they settled in Kawkawlin twp north of Bay City and a Hartley family attends my church. I have available to me marriage listings, death listings after 1930, and city directory listings.

Let me know if you don't have any luck with the above individual.
