Thank you, Frances! I did have almost all you posted. I did not have the alternative spellings for the Polish surnames. I have now added that information to my files and so it was good for you to respond and supply that information. The two brothers I am searching for -- John Leroy Haller and Eugene Haller -- are my first cousins once removed (according to FTM). In our case, the surname SHOULD be spelled "Haller." However, I had noticed in the census where Marie Piesik Haller had moved back with her sons to live with her parents that Marie's marital surname was listed as "Heller." That was probably the census taker's error, but I wondered if the in-laws began spelling it with the "e" instead of the "a" for some reason. I am still hitting a brick wall as to where the brothers went after the 1920 census. My Hallers came from Baden, Wuerttemberg, Germany. The first one known in my line was Gabriel Haller immigrating 1850-1855. Anyway, thanks for your help! Juanita Notify Administrator about this message?
