1870 census ass't marshall's name for Bangor County

I cannot read the handwriting well on some of the 1870 census online but the signature of the ass't marshall has me really puzzled. Is it N Clark?

What was pattern of the census? What area was page one and what area was covered on page 40 for instance? I am referring to the numbers on the upper left corner of the page.

What present area was Wenona in 1870?
