That is a good question. She did remarry in 1870 to John Powell and they moved to Iowa. I can not locate them in the 1870 census or the 1880 census. Most of their children report being born in Iowa. I also can not locate them in 1880. There is an indication they were in Minnesota about 1892. I found a John and Sarah Powell in 1885 Oui Lac Parle County, Minnesota but the children's names do not match. Two of them are correct names (Madison and Nora) but the others do not appear to have been theirs or this record is in error? Their ages and birth locations are correct though. By 1900 she is back in Berrien County, MI living in Benton Harbor as a widow. I can not locate John Powell's death record in Michigan or Minnesota.
