Thanks for your posting, Tom. I should have added a few more facts to my original posting, I think.Burr Humphrey was unmarried in 1870 and living in Genesee County, N.Y. He married shortly thereafter and his first wife died before 1880.I was lucky enough to find him in the 1880 census as B.S. Humphrey in Fort Wayne, Ind.He was unmarried, HOH. Living with him was his nephew George and Burr's mother, now Nancy Griswold.Burr moved to Michigan sometime after that. The index to a Western Michigan Genealogical Newsletter (don't have the exact name) lists Burr Humphrey, Nancy Humphrey, and Nancy Stone but I haven't asked for a lookup on that yet because it is supposed to take 6-8 weeks to be done. By looking at the names of other people mentioned on the same page in that publication, I came up with Barry County as a likely place to check. That's where my earlier message comes in. The ideal thing would be to find an obituary for Burr Humphrey or his mother (Nancy [Stone] [Humphrey] Griswold in Michigan in hopes that it might give some genealogical details./ Tom
