In 1870, the George Alexander family was living in Cheshire, Allegan County, MI:

Lydia, 22, House keeper, MI

In 1860, the family resided in Porter, Cass County, MI
1860 census,

George Alexander, 55, farmer, $2500/440 PA
Susanna, 56, TN
M. A. 20, female, MI
Ruth, 18, MI
Mary, 15, MI
Nathan, 14, MI
Lydia, 12, MI
Charles East, 18, MI

Just to flash forward ahead too--After George Alexander's death on 30 Jun 1877, the family appears to experienced dire straits by 1880:

listed under Wm Cheney household, farmer, but LOTS of people residing there under Thaddeus Cook whose occupation is "cares for insane."

don't know what happened to the Alexanders after 1880.
