Don't know if this will help. There was a family names Sheid who were among some of the first settlers of what is called Hagar Township, between Covert and Benton Harbor, Michigan, near Lake Michigan. This is in Van Buren County, not that far away from Allegan County.

Some of the family ended up in Watervliet, Berrien County, which is within 10 miles of that location.

That is all I know. They are not related to me, but I had family in that area and remember this from my research.

Sheid is not a common name here.
