Donna, I have Stark Mhoon in my family also. The Dawes Commission application of Stark Mhoon's son, William Green Mhoon, shows Stark Mhoon's mother to be Sallie Hughes, and Mathenia Mullins mother, Elizabeth Sutton. Both Sallie Hughes and Elizabeth Sutton are on the 1835 Henderson Roll. Sallie was from Georgia and Elizabeth was from North Carolina.

If you want a good book reference, look at "Cherokee Planters in Georgia". I don't have my records in front of me so I can't tell you who the author is at this time, but a lot of libraries have it.

In the book it shows where Sallie lived in Georgia, the land she owned and the gold mine she owned, all of which was taken from her and put into the land lottery. She was supposedly compensated for it all but I haven't looked up that documentation yet. The book also states that she was the indian wife of Bernard Hughes, a white Indian Trader. Sallie's maiden name was Sonicooie.

At this time, that is all the information I have on these people. I am descended from Stark's daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Mhoon who married James Bledsoe.

If I can help you on any of this, please let me know.

Glenda Ward
