Mercy, Thanks for responding. I have no ancestors born in what is now Mexico after 1800. By that time they were all established in New Mexico. I, too, have noticed that there are few Bautistas recorded anywhere in Mexico between 1520 and 1700. But there are even fewer Olivas. It is likely that you and I are related IF your Bautistas and my Olivas have a common ancestor; if in fact the Bautista de Olivas family eventually ran by both last names - but all of that will need to be researched in order to verify.
